Simple solutions to common problems with mobiles

We all know the common problems with phones. The recipient’s phone could be out of range or even simply switched off. So please be patient – if this is the case then our system will try to re-deliver the message at intervals. If you are sure they are available, please email us to confirm the information you gave was accurate, as it could simply be a wrong number.

If the message sounds quiet, then remember that it could be because the volume on the phone is turned down.

Please also note this is a UK only service to mobiles (downloads to PCs and Macs can be accessed internationally)

Now here are the problems with recipients – sometimes, they may have unexpectedly gone on holiday or left their mobile at home! And of course, if you send a message to someone, they have the right not to accept it. Here at Say It! we love the fact that people are, well … human. However, there is no technology that can surmount forgetfulness or absent - mindedness!

Phone receives a text message with a link but fails to download the song

If the recipient has received a text message containing a link, but that link fails to connect to download the message, the most common reason may be that the phone does not have the correct settings installed.

The quickest way to check this is to go to the operator’s website. This has facility to ensure the phone has the correct settings to access stuff like song files for download. Just click on one of the links in this list of Mobile operators WAP/GPRS set up guides. Alternatively call the mobile operator for help.

Move the Mobile operators WAP/GPRS set up guides section down to below ‘If all else fails’ so it matches order at the top of page.

The file downloads to the phone but won’t play

Firstly, please check that the volume on the phone is turned up!

Secondly, it is possible that some older phones need a different format file to play. If this is the case, please email us – preferably with the make and model number of the phone and we will re-send the message in a different format. (For more information on the capabilities of a particular phone please refer to the mobile phone manufacturer’s handset guides)

If all else fails

A very high percentage of phones will receive messages via WAP/GPRS and accept music files in the mp3 format. Some older phones (see above) require an older format of file.

However, some people’s phones simply pre-date the newer technology, so if you’re trying to send to someone with an eight-year old mobile it may just not be possible. (For more information on the capabilities of a particular phone please refer to the mobile phone manufacturer’s handset guides). Some people’s phones are broken. Some people just don’t really get on with the technology.

However, all is not lost. Sending via WAP is just a favourite method but there are others - here’s how you can still send them their gift!

1. We can send the message to your mobile instead. You can then Bluetooth it to their mobile if you are near them. Alternatively you can send it as an MMS message (an attachment to a text message). However, their phone needs to be set up for these technologies.

2. We can email it to them instead. Just get in touch with us at support@sayitmessages.com, give us their email details we will email the file to their computer instead.

3. We can email it to you. You can then email it to them, play it to them at home or you can burn it on a CD and give it as a present!

The Blackberry will accept Say It messages via mobile or email delivery methods. Note that while the email messages are high quality mp3’s, they may take longer to download.
